SANTA MAGDALENA DE POLPIS CASTLE

This is a late tenth century and early eleventh Arab building, now deteriorated, with only the outer wall, a cistern and the keep still standing. On the inside there are still some of the trees known as stinking bean trefoil (Anagyris foetida) used by the inhabitants of the castle for poisoning arrows to defend themselves.
